Refined White

Refined White, an initiative of the Australian Sugar Industry Museum presents historical images, artefacts and mementos from early Islander families and contemporary photographs of modern Australian South Sea Islanders living in close-knit communities along the Queensland coast.

The basis of the regional photographic component was a body of 1200 photographs which document the people and places that make up these communities along Queensland’s coast. They record their work and celebrations, their struggles and achievements, their pride and spirit.

This photographic exhibition toured around Australia including various State capitals and the National Museum in Canberra.
